"In last week’s ice storm, the historic oak tree at the corner of Worthy Park fell. Fortunately, the tree fell in the
only spot it could have fallen with out doing major damage. City of Carrollton crews showed up on Monday and
quickly cut the tree off the utility lines without causing any
additional damage. There was no damage to the gazebo,
fountain, picnic tables, or benches.
The property was the site of Dr. Steve Worthy’s home and
later was donated to the city for a park by Dr. Peter Worthy
who grew up in the house. The park is located at the corner
of Dixie Street and West Avenue in the Carrollton Intown
