The Fargo Arena was built as a recreational facility and had ice skating in the winter. This New Deal Works Progress Administration (WPA) project was started in 1938 and finished in 1939.

DESCRIPTION
"The old Fargo Arena was a short-lived recreation facility. Located at Island Park, it has been largely dismantled, though its shell remains. The facility was constructed in the northwest corner of the park, near the park’s present-day pool. A 1939 WPA plaque is visible on the old shell today."

“The arena was a W.P.A. project built in 193[8-9]. The original structure was dismantled and reassembled at Hector Airport in December 1943, where it served as an airplane hanger. The concrete front of the building was preserved at the original location.”

Information from The Living New Deal, link below.

Under Condition I marked this WPA site as 'Good upkeep with a little wear and tear', obviously this is in reference to just the concrete south entrance, which was left when the building was moved and later maintained by the city. The yellow that can be seen through the windows in some of the photos are part of a metal support system for the original building facade.
