Ajo is a company owned copper mining town in southern Arizona. It was developed in 1915. The town's central plaza was designed by the architects Kenyon and Maine in a Spanish Colonial Revival style. The Tucson, Cornelia and Gila Bend railroad used the station from 1915 til the line closed in 1985. The station now houses a visitor center and the Chamber of Commerce. The station has an ornamental tile dome and is fronted by an arcade which connects the station to the two business wings of the plaza. The station is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
