As you walk into the tiny Buchanan State Forest park office, you are immediately inundated with color from the forest mural on the wall which provides a backdrop for its display on tree growth. A little black bear hangs from a tree above the display, keeping an eye on all of the comings and goings.

The Buchanan State Forest was named after the 15th president of the United States and the only president to have been born in Pennsylvania, James Buchanan. The forest covers 70,000 acres of forest land in three counties with its park office located in Fulton County.
