Located on the south side of the Caloosahatchee Canal at the Ortona Lock and Dam is the Ortona South Campground. This campground is a true "Best Kept Secret." The campground is 10 miles east of LaBelle on Highway 80 and 23 miles west of Clewiston.

This campground is in a quiet, out of the way place, that is used mostly by adult campers. There is a 14 day stay limit, but if you are looking for peace and quiet this is the place to be. You can watch waterway traffic going through the lock. In fact you are able to go right up to the lock edge where there is a seating area and watch boats lifted and lowered within the lock. You can even cross over to the north side of the lock. There is a dam that can be crossed and three fishing piers for fishing. One fishing pier is wheelchair accessible. Horseshoe pits with covered seating areas, paved hiking paths (wheelchair friendly), restrooms with showers, laundry washer and dryer (credit card only), picnic shelter, grills, fire rings, and free WiFi. Pets are allowed. Campsites have electric and water hookups, a dump station is available.
