Even in the midst of 'The Great War', in 1916, there had been a proposal for a Memorial Arch, which gained momentum with the return of the soldiers in 1919. The arch was completed at a cost of £1,700, and unveiled on ANZAC Day, 25 April, 1927, by Major-General C.F. Cox. [Wikipedia: (visit link) ]
