The 1937 Irion County courthouse was designed by the David S. Castle Company. Castle designed several handsome Classical Revival style courthouses in Texas during the 1920s. In the late 1930s, Castle's designs had matured to the more severe, Art-Moderne style, as seen in the 1937 Irion County courthouse.
