Though the layout of Rotonda West precisely mimics World War II airfields in Florida there was not a similar airport at this location prior to development. This has made it a unique community and visually from satellite a distinct landmark. The Rotonda West community has a total area of 11.5 square miles.
There is a water treatment plant located at the center of Rotonda West. The large water storage building is nearly at the center of Rotonda West. To the east of the water treatment plant is a community park with a playground, tennis courts, and a walking path.
The coordinates for this waymark are taken from inside the park just west of the tennis courts and east of the water treatment plant fence. This is the closest one can get to the actual center due to the fence around the water treatment facility.
