"The Carrollton Courthouse Square Historic District includes twelve large one-quarter blocks surrounding one full courthouse block. They constitute the public square and central business district of Carrollton, Illinois. The district includes a wide range of building types and styles ranging from the stone courthouse to one-story concrete block buildings. The majority of the buildings are two-story brick commercial buildings. The business district remains the only significant concentration of businesses in Carrollton." ~ NRHP Nomination Form
