Le village de Berloz est aussi connu pour son patrimoine. Le château a abrité les Comtes de Berloz du XIIe siècle à la Révolution française. Ces aristocrates du village ont joué un rôle très important dans le clergé, l'armée et l'administration du Pays de Liège. Intégré dans un remarquable ensemble formé par l'église Saint-Lambert, le presbytère et la ferme castrale, le château était autrefois entouré d’un vaste parc. Ce dernier était agrémenté par un étang, lui-même alimenté par la Mule. Ce site, classé par la Région wallonne, ne manque pas d’intérêt pour le promeneur qui accédera à une partie du complexe castral par une jolie ruelle longée de hauts murs.
Le château reconstruit au XVIIIe siècle a subi d'importants aménagements déjà dans la 2e partie du XVIIIe siècle, notamment par l'adjonction d'ailes et surtout au XIXe siècle par des approfondissements et des exhaussements du bâtiment. Le château a plusieurs fois été détruit et il semble que la construction actuelle soit le résultat de nombreuses transformations de l'ancien presbytère.
La ferme castrale est un important quadrilatère élevé à l'emplacement de l'ancien château fort. Le noyau principal date du XVIIe siècle. La ferme a subi de nombreux remaniements, mais elle reste, par sa forme en carré, sa cour pavée, son porche et sa grange monumentale, un exemple typique de ferme hesbignonne. Sa tour du XIXe siècle plantée au milieu de la cour renoue avec ses origines seigneuriales.
Het dorp Berloz (of Berlo) staat ook welbekend voor zijn erfgoed. Het kasteel heeft de graven van Berloz gehuisvest van de 12de eeuw tot de Franse revolutie. Deze landelijke aristocraten speelden een heel belangrijke rol bij de geestelijken, het leger en de regering van het Land van Luik. Geïntegreerd in een opmerkelijk geheel gevormd door de Saint-Lambert kerk, de pastorie en de kasteelhoeve, werd het kasteel destijds omringd door een groot park. Het had een mooie vijver, gevoed door de wateren van de rivier La-Mule. Het kasteelcomplex staat op de lijst van rijksmonumenten beschermd door het Waalse Gewest, en trekt vaak de aandacht van wandelaars die het bereiken via een charmant steegje omringd door een hoge muur.
Het kasteel, gebouwd in de 18de eeuw, werd al fors verbouwd tijdens de 2de helft van de eeuw, en kreeg een aantal vleugels toegevoegd. Vooral in de 19de eeuw werd het uitgediept en verhoogd. Het werd ook meerdere malen vernietigd; waarschijnlijk is het huidige pand het resultaat van de vele transformaties van de vroegere pastorie.
De kasteelhoeve is een opvallende vierhoek, gebouwd op het terrein van de vroegere burcht. De hoofdkern bestaat al sinds de 17de eeuw. De boerderij heeft veel wijzigingen ondergaan maar, door haar vierkantvorm, geplaveide hof, portiek en monumentale schuur, blijft ze een typisch voorbeeld van de Haspengouwse hofstede. Haar 19de eeuw toren midden het erf vindt er zijn edele afkomst in terug.
The village of Berloz (or Berlo) is also well known for its heritage. The castle housed the Counts of Berloz from the 12th century to the French Revolution. These rural aristocrats played a very important role in the clergy, army and government of the Liège region. Integrated into a remarkable ensemble formed by the Saint-Lambert church, the presbytery and the castle farm, the castle was then surrounded by a large park. It had a beautiful pond, fed by the waters of the La-Mule river. The castle complex is on the list of national monuments protected by the Walloon Region, and often attracts the attention of walkers who reach it via a charming alley surrounded by a high wall.
The castle, built in the 18th century, was already substantially rebuilt during the 2nd half of the century, and was given a number of wings. Especially in the 19th century it was deepened and raised. It was also destroyed several times; probably the present building is the result of the many transformations of the former presbytery.
The castle farm is a striking quadrangle, built on the site of the former castle. The main nucleus has existed since the 17th century. The farm has undergone many changes but, with its square shape, cobbled courtyard, porch and monumental barn, it remains a typical example of the Hesbaye courtyard. Its 19th century tower in the middle of the yard reflects its noble origins.
