Situé au pied du col d'Aspin à 1 139 m d'altitude, le barrage en remblai du lac de Payolle a été construit en 1970 entre les communes de Campan et Arreau en amont et Ancizan en aval pour développer l'attrait touristique du cirque de Payolle.
Alimenté par des ruisseaux, le lac forme à son déversoir l'Adour de Payolle.

ENGLISH

Located at the foot of the Aspin pass at an altitude of 1139 m, the embankment dam of the Payolle lake was built in 1970 between the communes of Campan and Arreau upstream and Ancizan downstream to develop the attraction tour of the circus of Payolle.
Fed by creeks, the lake forms the "Adour of Payolle" at its spillway.
