In Ketchikan a very popular walking route leads visitors on a circuit from the downtown area uphill to the City Park and Deer Mountain Hatchery and back. As you make the circuit the sidewalk passes in front of 1001 Park Street and a house with a wishing well set about 10' below the grade of the street.
Knowing that in season there will be a steady stream of tourists, the owner connected a long piece of PVC pipe between the wishing well and the fence on the sidewalk above. The owner decorated the well with a hanging basket of flowers and added a sign reading:
Drop A Coin
Make A Wish
You Will Be Happy
A Boy
Can Fish
It's amazing how many tourist can't resist sliding some spare change into the wishing well.
