A bronze plaque set on a square column made of stone blocks honors the memory of Richard T. Harris and Joseph Juneau. The plaque contains the portrait of both men and the following inscription:

SELECTED THIS SPOT FOR THEIR CAMP
SITE. HERE THEY DISCOVERED GOLD, WHICH
RESULTED IN THE FOUNDING OF JUNEAU,
THE FIRST WHITE SETTLEMENT ESTABLISHED
IN ALASKA UNDER AMERICAN POSSESSION.
