"The Old Monroe American Legion Post No. 420 is building a Veterans Memorial Wall next to their Legion Hall. The wall will be 22 ft. long with the present memorial in the middle and front of the wall. Legion members will be selling bricks with the following information on them…name of veteran, branch of service emblem, rank/unit and what conflict they served in. The bricks are for any service member alive or deceased that has been or is in the military. The wall will be a tribute to all veterans for what they have done for the United States." ~ Lincoln County Journal, May 6th, 2013
"Before a large crowd of family and community members, the American Legion Post No. 420 at Old Monroe dedicated their new Veterans Memorial Wall. It contains over 330 bricks bearing names of veterans, their branch of service and the years they served. Above, Commander Butch Henke leads the dedication while Chaplain Walter Burkemper is at his right. For more photos of the event, see page 12a in today’s issue." ~ Lincoln County Journal, May 19, 2014
