This Skew Arch Bridge was built to carry the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad trains loaded with coal across N. 6th Street in the city of Reading. Built of stone, this style of arch bridge is notable because it lacks a keystone, the stone which bears the weight of both sides of an arch. The design of the bridge shows a twisted looking array of stones and is actually a marvel of design. This bridge features three arches, one large center arch for vehicle traffic and two pedestrian walkways.
