The Harrington Hotel , located at 1026 Military Street in downtown Port Huron was constructed by entrepreneur Charles Harrington on the former site of his family home. It quickly became the social center of the city, with luminaries of the day such as Thomas Edison often overnighting here. Future president Harry S. Truman and his wife Bess honeymooned here in 1919.

The hotel remained busy through the 1930's and 40's, but by the mid 1950's it began showing its age. It saw its clientele change from high society to lower-income weekly and monthly tenants. Finally, the hotel closed in the mid-1980's, after being threatened with demolition. However, a new buyer stepped in in the early 2000's and after extensive upgrading renamed the facility the Harrington Inn and turned it into an assisted-living complex. This remained an active concern until 2017, when the state ordered the owners to bring the building up to assisted-living code or close the Inn. the owners chose the latter.

The building now sits vacant, awaiting a new use.
