S. 217.) und «dux et iusticiarius in terra sua», übte die höchsten Herrschaftsfunktionen aus; es lag in seiner Macht, das Landrecht (placita) einzuberufen und das Geleitrecht (ius conductus) auszuüben. Seiner Stellung als Vasall des Kaisers gemäß hatte er andererseits die Pflicht zur Teilnahme an den Kriegszügen des Kaisers (Reichsheerfahrt) und an der Versammlung der Reichsstände (Reichshoftag) (s.
