It is located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, at the crossroads of Saint-Marcel Boulevard and Jeanne d'Arc Street. The plaster model was first exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais in 1887. The statue was inaugurated on Boulevard Saint-Marcel in September 1891 by the City of Paris at the request of the inhabitants of the district.
