In 1915, the famous contour bottle used by the Coca Cola Company was patented by the Root Glass Company in Terre Haute, Indiana. The iconic contour bottle is still being used and is recognized worldwide.
The first bottles of Coca Cola were sold in Red Deer mostly in retail outlets such as local drugstores around 1915.
Red Deer Bottling was established in 1911. However, the original company, which was owned by A.J. Pingrey and F.L. Brown, manufactured their own soft drinks and ‘aerated waters’. Their prize product was ‘Jersey Crème’, which they described as a, ‘pleasant and healthful beverage’.
It appears that the Coke Bottle, with its iconic contour shape, is at this location for several decades as it is showing signs of age. It stands about 10 feet and is made of steel rods contoured to shape the bottle. The iconic Coca Cola logo is on the front side and Coke on the back side.
