This box is near the Proctor Theater which hosts Broadway events. Painting boxes is a new project which just started this year. This box is the demonstration first box, it was unveiled in June of 2018.

SCHENECTADY - A new city-wide art project is unveiled in Schenectady.
The Schenectady Arts Society is looking for community input and designs to paint traffic signal utility boxes throughout Schenectady. The art will be neighborhood themed. The first piece features a theater and entertainment at the corner of State and Jay streets. "It takes some underutilized public space and lets it become part of the resurgence that we're seeing in downtown Schenectady," explained Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy."
