Založení aeroklubu Nové mesto nad Metují se datuje do roku 1946, kde prílet prvního letadla na zdejší letište probehl dne 17.10.1946. V soucasné dobe aeroklub provozuje celkem dvanáct letadel, z toho sedm letadel bezmotorových, neboli vetronu. Letište má dve travnaté dráhy "do kríže", které jsou dlouhé 900 metru.
