[DE] "St. Gotthard und St. Erhard ist eine der Evangelisch-Lutherischen Kirche für Gottesdienste zur Verfügung gestellte, ursprünglich römisch-katholische Kirche in der Südtiroler Stadt Brixen, die umgangssprachlich als Erhardskirche bekannt ist. Das barocke Gebäude befindet sich in der Erhardgasse in der Fußgängerzone der Brixner Altstadt, westlich des Domplatzes. Seit 1984 steht sie unter Denkmalschutz.
Bei archäologischen Grabungen im Bereich der heutigen Kirche gefundene eisenzeitliche Artefakte dokumentieren eine lang andauernde Besiedlung des Ortes. Im 9. Jahrhundert befand sich an dieser Stelle eine Kapelle St. Thomas am Wald. Die Voitsperger stifteten im 13. Jahrhundert neben der ältesten Propstei eine Kirche, die 1371 vergrößert wurde. 1695 veranlasste Weihbischof Wilhelm von Vintler einen barocken Neubau. Seit 1971 dient die Kirche den Lutheranern als Gottesdienststätte.
Das kleine und schlichte Kirchlein besitzt Kreuzgratgewölbe und einen geraden Chorschluss. Die schmucklose Fassade zeigt Lünettenfenster und an der Westseite ein rechteckiges Eingangsportal mit gesprengtem Giebel und einer Wappenkartusche. Der Ostturm wird von einer Kuppelhaube und einer Laterne bekrönt.
Im Inneren befinden sich Deckengemälde in Vierpassrahmung aus der Zeit um 1700, die den Namen Jesu und die hl. Dreifaltigkeit darstellen. Der Hochaltar aus weißem Marmor wurde um 1840 errichtet und besitzt ein Altarkreuz von 1740. Am schmiedeeisernen Gitter aus der Bauzeit ist das Wappen von Bischof Vintler, dem Erbauer der Kirche, zu sehen."
[EN] "St. Gotthard and St. Erhard is a Roman Catholic church in the South Tyrolean town of Brixen, colloquially known as Erhardskirche, which was made available to the Evangelical-Lutheran Church for services. The baroque building is located in Erhardgasse in the pedestrian zone of the old town of Brixen, west of Domplatz. It has been a listed building since 1984.
Iron Age artifacts found during archaeological excavations in the area of today's church document a long-lasting settlement of the village. In the 9th century there was a chapel St. Thomas am Wald at this place. In the 13th century, the Voitsperger family founded a church next to the oldest provostry, which was enlarged in 1371. In 1695 Auxiliary Bishop Wilhelm von Vintler ordered a new Baroque building. Since 1971 the church has served the Lutherans as a place of worship.
The small and simple church has a groined vault and a straight choir end. The unadorned façade shows bezel windows and on the west side a rectangular entrance portal with burst gable and a coat of arms cartouche. The east tower is crowned by a dome and a lantern.
Inside there are ceiling paintings in four-pass frames from around 1700, representing the name of Jesus and the Holy Trinity. The white marble high altar was built around 1840 and has an altar cross from 1740; the wrought-iron lattice from the construction period bears the coat of arms of Bishop Vintler, the builder of the church."
