Der Ökologisch-Botanische Garten (abgekürzt ÖBG) ist eine zentrale wissenschaftliche Einrichtung der Universität Bayreuth mit den Schwerpunkten Ökologie und Umwelt in Forschung und Lehre. Für die Öffentlichkeit ist der Garten ein überregional bedeutsames Zentrum für Bildung und Erholung. Eine Besonderheit des ÖBG besteht darin, dass im 16 ha großen Freigelände und in den 6000 m² großen Gewächshäusern naturnah gestaltete Lebensräume und Vegetationstypen aus aller Welt dargestellt sind. Darüber hinaus befinden sich im Freiland ausgedehnte naturnah angelegte und extensiv betreute Lebensräume (Trockenstandorte, Feuchtbiotope, Totholz u. a.). Hier konnte sich im Laufe der Zeit eine einmalige Vielfalt heimischer Tier-, Pflanzen- und Pilzarten ansiedeln, darunter viele seltene und vom Aussterben bedrohte Arten. Ein großes Sortiment unterschiedlicher Nutzpflanzen gedeiht alljährlich im Nutzpflanzengarten mit jährlich wechselnder Thematik.

The Ecological-Botanical Garden (abbreviated ÖBG) is a central scientific institution of the University of Bayreuth with a focus on ecology and environment in research and teaching. For the public, the garden is a nationally important center for education and recreation. A special feature of the ÖBG is that natural habitats and vegetation types from all over the world are displayed in the 16-hectare outdoor area and in the 6000 m² greenhouses. In addition, there are extensive nature-based and extensively managed habitats (dry locations, wetlands, deadwood and others) in the open air. Here, over time, a unique variety of native animal, plant and fungus species could settle, including many rare and endangered species. A large assortment of different crops thrives annually in the crop garden with annually changing themes.
