This pillar is situated on the 2,428 feet (740 metres) Badandun Hill, a Scottish Graham (mountain between 2,000 and 2,500 feet high). It is a large sprawling mountain on the east side of Glen Isla near its head. The pillar sits on a relatively level summit area and is a passive station. It is in good condition and on a clear day views are extensive, especially over the lower ground to the south.

STEEPNESS: Relatively steep from all directions, but eases towards the summit area.

TERRAIN: Bulldozed tracks approach the mountain from all directions, one heading to the summit from the east. Otherwise the terrain is of short grass, heather and heath.

ACCESSIBILITY: The quickest route is from Fergus in Glen Isla to the west where it is a couple of miles to the summit. From the Kirkton of Glenisla the Cateran Trail passes within two miles to the south and from here a bulldozed track crosses the eastern side to within half a mile of the summit. The track to the top leads from here up the north-east slope.

NAVIGATION: Easiest to stick to the tracks, especially the one that leads to the summit from the east.

DANGER: None, no significant crags, and the mountain is surrounded by tracks within a couple of miles or so.
