[FR] L'ancien hôpital de Semur, dit "des remparts", a été fermé en 2006, du fait de l'ouverture du nouvel hôpital. [EN] The old Semur hospital, known as the "ramparts", was closed in 2006 due to the opening of the new hospital.

"L’existence d’un hôpital est attestée à Semur-en-Auxois depuis le XIIe siècle. Au XVIème siècle, la ville compte même 2 hôpitaux, l’un servant d’hôtel-Dieu, l’autre réservé aux lépreux. Il faut attendre le XVIIème siècle pour que les deux établissements soient réunis au sein d’une même bâtisse.

Au XVIIIème siècle, les administrateurs de l’hôpital décident d’acquérir l’hôtel du Châtelet, nouvellement vacant et situé dans le quartier du Château, à l’emplacement probable du château médiéval. Le gouverneur de Semur, Florent-Claude du Châtelet-Lomont vend ainsi sa propriété en 1734 avec maison, bâtiments, granges, écuries, remises, triple cour, grand et petit jardin.

Les administrateurs de l’hôpital transfèrent progressivement les services hospitaliers au sein de l’hôtel du Châtelet, bientôt transformé en hôtel-Dieu avec l’aménagement de chambres pour les malades.

Entre 1745 et 1750, un nouveau bâtiment est construit avec des salles plus vastes pour les malades ainsi qu’une chapelle, inaugurée en 1749. En 1771, un portail est commandé afin de fermer la cour. Ce portail en fer forgé est aujourd’hui inscrit au titre des monuments historiques.

D’autres travaux marquent l’histoire de ce site, notamment la construction d’une maison pour le chapelain en 1775. Au XIXème siècle, un agrandissement est mis en place avec la construction d’une aile.

L'hôpital se transforme en maison de retraite, en 1976, à la suite du transfert de tous les services sur un autre site. La fermeture de l'hôpital est définitivement entérinée début juin 2009."

"The existence of a hospital is attested in Semur-en-Auxois since the twelfth century.In the sixteenth century, the city has even two hospitals, one serving as a hotel-Dieu, the other for lepers. We have to wait until the 17th century for the two establishments to be united within the same building.

In the 18th century, hospital administrators decided to acquire the newly vacant Hôtel du Châtelet, located in the Château district, in the probable location of the medieval castle. The governor of Semur, Florent-Claude Chatelet-Lomont sells his property in 1734 with house, buildings, barns, stables, sheds, triple yard, large and small garden.

The hospital's administrators are gradually transferring hospital services to the Châtelet hotel, which will soon be transformed into a hotel-Dieu with the provision of rooms for the sick.

Between 1745 and 1750, a new building was built with larger rooms for the sick and a chapel, inaugurated in 1749. In 1771, a portal is ordered to close the courtyard. This wrought iron gate is now listed as a historical monument.

Other works mark the history of this site, including the construction of a house for the chaplain in 1775. In the nineteenth century, an expansion is set up with the construction of a wing.

The hospital became a retirement home in 1976 following the transfer of all services to another site. The closure of the hospital is definitively confirmed at the beginning of June 2009. "
