Old Highway 81 Culvert - Duncan, OK - WPA Projects on Waymarking.com

Highway 81 which closely followed the Old Chisholm Trail, intersects the town of Duncan. However, in years past before it was straightened out, the old highway made a bend at Beech Street, and this culvert was part of that infrastructure. Today, the curbing on the culvert peeks out of a hedge that partially encloses Fuqua Park.

The culvert curbing can be seen in two places which would have been on either side of the old highway. The original WPA shield stamp is too greatly eroded to read, and can be faintly seen in this photo
