The North Portland or Pioneer Cemetery was used from 1844 until the South Cemetery was opened in the 1860's, Of the 2000 or so burials only 90 headstones remain due to the cemetery being neglected until the 1980's when restoration began. Many of the local pioneers are buried here and can be found on a self-guided walk with a pamphlet available near the entrance.
