While most of the buildings here are of more modern structure, it was established in September 1886, and originally named 'Ryde'. It was renamed 'West Ryde' in October 1945. Things have changed since the days that I would daily go past West Ryde on my way to school at Strathfield. It was a two side platform Station in those days. In 1989 an extra line (loop) from Eastwood came past, causing the southbound side platform to become an island platform. (visit link) [And Wikipedia]

It is 19 km from Central Station, on the Main Northern line. While there was a footbridge over the rail line, it has been renovated recently.
