"The first Schoharie Bridge at Gilboa was a circa 1921 one-lane crossing. Construction of a new Schoharie Bridge began in March 2002 and opened to traffic on August 21, 2003. The $3.9 million bridge, replaced as part of the New York City Department of Environmental Protection's (DEP) Upstate Bridge Reconstruction Program, was financed by the DEP as it crossed a portion of the Schoharie Reservoir that feeds water to New York City. The crossing was dedicated on September 5."
