Anna Elisabeth Graff erbte 1803 von ihrem ersten Ehemann ein kleines Anwe-sen mit dem Namen „auf Ketschenburgil Mit ihrem zweiten Mann, Ch. J. Brück-mann, betrieb sie eine bescheidene Landwirtschaft und eine kleine Brauerei. Ihr dritter Ehemann, ein Brauer aus der Klatterstraße, erweiterte 1817 durch Zu-kauf des angrenzenden Geländes, am heutigen VVilly-Brand-Platz, den Betrieb und gründete die „Ketschenburg-Brauerei': Die Nachfahren der Familie führten den Betrieb fort und errichteten 1870 ein großes Wohnhaus. Der Betrieb expandierte und wurde zu einem Unter-nehmen mit modernster Technik umge-baut. Eine Dampfmaschine beheizte die Braukessel und betrieb den Kühl- und Eisblockgenerator.

Die Ketschenburg-Brauerei um 1930; Weitere Investitionen sicherten die industrielle Fertigung und ein 63 Meter tiefer Brunnen lieferte bestes Brauwasser. 1896 fügte man dem Firmenlogo die Stolberger Burg hinzu und identifizierte sich auch nach außen hin mit der Heimatstadt. Aus wirtschaftlichen Gründen kooperierte man ab 1950 mit der Münchener Hacker-Pschorr-Brauerei, bis 1985 wurde jedoch noch in Stolberg das beliebte „Ketsch" gebraut. Danach wurde in Bayern produziert und der Stolberger Standort diente nur noch als Vertriebs-zentrum. 1994 endete die lange Brautradition der Familie Brückmann. Seit 2008 wird Ketschenburger Bier wieder unter Lizenz in Schwein-furt gebraut und in Stolberg ausgeschenkt. An der Stelle der ehemaligen Brauerei steht seit 1997 das zentrale Gebäude der EWV, der Stolberger Energie- und Wasserversorgung GmbH. Die Ausstellung der einstigen Betriebseinrichtung sowie einer kleinen Sammlung von Bierkrügen und Gläsern bewahren hier das Andenken an die Stolberger Bierkultur der vergangenen Zeit.
