The plaque says, "Gratefully dedicated to the sixteen million Americans who served in World War II December 7, 1941 to September 2, 1945. Through their sacrifices they defeated the military powers of Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy and Imperialist Japan. Their gallant efforts saved our nation's liberties. They understood the price of freedom. Presented by: Harbor area world war II commemorative committee."
