The Alte Waage (Old Libra) at the trading port of Leer was built in 1714 as the last building in the style of the Dutch Classicist Baroque in East Frisia and housed until the abolition of the weighing monopoly in 1865 the scale of the city.
Today there is a restaurant in the building whose name is reminiscent of the history of the building.
The wrought-iron sign with its golden crown and black scale also points to the long history of this location.
