Bull Foot Park is located in an area where a ground indentation resembling a bull's foot formed a creek-fed pond. This watering station was a popular stopping place for the large cattle herds being driven from Texas to Kansas along the old Chisholm Trail.

Near the entrance to the park, a paved patio called Centennial Plaza commemorates the 100th Anniversary of Oklahoma statehood. A granite paver here is engraved: "TIME CAPSULE TO BE OPENED JULY 4, 2057". That year will be the 150th anniversary of statehood.
