"Over 400 years old this quintessentially traditional village pub has a skittle long-alley and the village cricket field behind. Relatively recently the Jackson family’s tenure as landlords came to an end following 100 consecutive years. The latest Mr Jackson proprietor is said to remember elderly ladies coming in on an evening to fill their white jugs with pints of either beer or milk at tuppence ha'penny, from the herd of cows kept in a field behind the pub, and having a quick half and a good gossip at the same time. The interior is rabbit warrenesque with no less than six diverse individual adjoining bars, snugs and a dining area in the comparatively newer rear extension overlooking the large enclosed lawned garden with paved areas and open-sided octagonal summer-houses, picnic table and garden furniture. The rural ambience is enhanced by original exposed ceiling beams & joists throughout."
