This magnificent library, also known as Winn Memorial Library, was the bequest of Charles Bowers Winn, who had inherited his father's estate just two years prior. His 1875 death left $140,000 to the town, with instructions to build a library that would be an architectural masterpiece for the town.
The architect was Henry Hobson Richardson, designer of Boston's Trinity Church. The exterior is made of Ohio sandstone and Longmeadow stone, and features an art gallery, reading room, and study hall.
