Nach der Ausgemeindung der Gohliser aus der Eutritzscher Kirchgemeinde wurde im Jahr 1871 der Grundstein für die lang ersehnte Gohliser Kirche gelegt. Der Architekt Hugo Altendorff orientierte sich streng an den ästhetischen und baulichen Richtlinien des „Eisenacher Regulativs“ und entwarf einen schlichten Verblendziegelbau mit neogotischer Formensprache. Am 31. Oktober 2016 konnte die Friedensglocke in Betrieb genommen werden. Die neue Bronzeglocke komplettiert das Geläut nach mehreren Jahren wieder.

Die Friedenskirche gehört gemeinsamen mit der Michaeliskirche zur Michaelis-Friedens-Kirchgemeinde. Seit 2016 wird sie als Jugendkirche für Leipzig vom Evangelischen Jugendpfarramt genutzt und bietet Raum für Jugendgottesdienste, Konzerte und anderes.

After the settlement of the Gohliser from the Eutritzscher parish in 1871, the foundation stone for the long-awaited Gohliser church was laid. The architect Hugo Altendorff strictly followed the aesthetic and structural guidelines of the "Eisenacher Regulativs" and designed a simple brickwork with a neo-gothic style. On October 31, 2016, the peace bell was put into operation. The new bronze bell completes the bells after several years.

The Peace Church belongs together with the Michaelis Church to the Michaelis Peace Parish. Since 2016, it has been used as a youth church for Leipzig by the Protestant Youth Parish Office and offers space for youth worship services, concerts and other events.
