There is a big stone on the top of the hill that hangs, as if it wanted to crash every second. But how on earth did the threatening stone only reach its dangerous position? Of course, the devil personally should have had his hand in the game.

For when the Christian monks had taken possession of the upper chapel on the tower rock of the Externsteine, and the first priest raised the sun-shining monstrance (Relegious display), to pour out the salvation, the devil had already dragged a mighty boulder around the whole chapel, including the To crush priests and the body of the Lord. But when Satan drove so high in the thunder that the smell of sulfur rushed out before him, the priest recognized the danger, turned against the fiend, and held out the monstrance to him. Blinded by the sudden splendor of the sanctuary, whose rays came to his eyes like spears, the evil roared angrily. He threw too short and the stone block missed his target. He remained hanging on the opposite crest, where he is, according to God's will, fixed as a wiggle stone until the day and this hour.

Howling and blind with rage Satan drove down the rock and plunged into the holy grave, which was cut out of the living rock. He slammed his claws deep into the wall and rattled the crypt to break the stone steps. The Devil continued to race around the stones, trying to knock them all over.
Wackelstein legend

He pushed his buttocks down against the rock wall, but the mighty colossi did not want to shake off and give way. Then the evil drove with horrible stench back to hell and left the whole sanctuary Paderborn monks Abdinghof Abbey. No one has warred him here again, and only the trace of his anger, the Wackelstein, the claw in the grave and the black hole remained from his attack left.
