EN: The Catholic parish church of St. Agatha is located next to the train station in the city center of Dietikon.

It consists of a rectangular nave with two side chapels and a round chancelat the north end. On the south side is a slightly tapering steeple above the main portal, which is flanked by columns.

The church was built in 1927 after the plans of architect Adolf Gaudy. At the same place was already before a church, which is documented since 1089. Since 1257, the patronage of the church was at the monastery Wettingen. It was originally dedicated to Ulrich and possessed several affiliate churches and chapels in the area in the 14th century; Agatha appears around the year 1500 as a church patron.

In 1529, the church became reformed for a short time, but since the county of Baden but was managed jointly by Catholic and Reformed states, the reintroduction of Catholicism was enforced in 1532. In Dietikon, however, a strong Reformed minority remained, which used the church together with the Catholics. After the population increase in industrialization, however, the church had become too small, so that they decided to separate, a process that lasted several years through complicated negotiations. In 1925, a new Reformed church was built and the old church was demolished and replaced by the now exclusively Catholic new building.

In 2011 the church was listed as a bookcrossing zone; the book released then has been the only one to date.

DE: Die katholische Pfarrkirche St. Agatha befindet sich gleich beim Bahnhof im Stadtzentrum von Dietikon.

Sie besteht aus einem rechteckigen Langhaus mit zwei Seitenkapellen und einem runden Chor als Abschluss. An der Südseite steht ein sich gegen oben leicht verjüngender Kirchturm über dem Hauptportal, das von Säulen flankiert ist.

Die Kirche wurde 1927 nach Plänen des Architekten Adolf Gaudy erbaut. An derselben Stelle stand schon vorher eine Kirche, die seit 1089 urkundlich belegt ist. Seit 1257 lag das Patronat der Kirche beim Kloster Wettingen. Sie war ursprünglich Ulrich geweiht und besass im 14. Jahrhundert mehrere Filialkirchen und Kapellen in der Umgebung; Agatha als Kirchenpatronin taucht um das Jahr 1500 auf.

1529 wurde die Kirche kurzzeitig reformiert, da die Grafschaft Baden aber von katholischen und reformierten Orten gemeinsam verwaltet wurde, wurde 1532 die Wiedereinführung des Katholizismus erzwungen. In Dietikon blieb aber eine starke reformierte Minderheit bestehen, die die Kirche gemeinsam mit den Katholiken benutzten.Nach dem Bevölkerungsanstieg in der Industrialisierung war sie aber zu klein geworden, so dass man eine Trennung beschloss, die sich aber durch komplizierte Verhandlungen jahrelang hinzog. 1925 wurde dann eine neue reformierte Kirche erbaut und die alte Kirche abgerissen und durch den nun ausschliesslich katholischen Neubau ersetzt.

2011 wurde die Kirche auf bookcrossing.com gelistet. Das damals freigelassene Buch blieb bis heute das einzige.
