Note aux non-francophones.
* Le monument aux morts de Gentioux Pigerolles - Creuse -France
* Monument aux Morts - Calais, France
* Monument aux Morts - Blériot - Pas-de-Calais - France
* Monument aux Morts - Longuenesse - Pas-de-Calais - France
* Monument aux Morts - Ponthoile - Somme - France
* Aux Enfants de Beuvais Morts pour La France - Beauvais, France
* ...
EN Note to non-francophones. The mention Peyrolles, "to his children glorious" does not mean that the inhabitants sent the children to fight in their place or that minors were executed by the occupier . This memorial is a military memorial but this formula "to his children ..." preceded by the name of the city means that they were born in the city.
We find this formula ("children" to designate people born here) on many monuments to military deaths in France:
* The monument to the dead Gentioux Pigerolles - Creuse -France
* Monument for the Dead - Calais, France
* War Memorial - Blériot - Pas-de-Calais - France
* Monument for the Dead - Longuenesse - Pas-de-Calais - France
* Monument for the Dead - Ponthoile - Somme - France
* To The Children of Beuvais Dead for France - Beauvais, France
* ...
As a reminder, in the French national anthem, La Marseillaise, the phrase "Let's go children of the Fatherland" is addressed to all its inhabitants.
