Young Teacher is a beautiful bronze sculpture of a young woman reading a book in braille with her right hand, and making the sign for "future" with her left hand. The book rests on her right leg, which is up and crossed over the left knee. She is perched atop a column that is about 4 1/2' high.

The back side of the sculpture has a plaque that reads:

Young Teacher
W. Binnings, Sculptor
Dedicated in loving memory of Melissa Renee' Biggs
by Shelva and William Biggs, Sr.
May 10, 2002

On the column to the girl's left is etched the following:

"...In your hands rests our future..."
Harry S. Truman
