It took three months to prepare the move and four days to execute it, but the Goderich train station was moved closer to Lake Huron. The owner has now opened a fine dining restaurant and meeting facility in the building.

After purchasing the decaying station from the Town of Goderich for $1, local entrepreneur Herb Marshall, the owner of a popular restaurant, spent $1.8 million to pick up the 106-year-old railway station and move it to the edge of Lake Huron.

The last train pulled away from its passenger platform in April 1988.

Laurie McCulloch Building Moving from Whitby safely moved the 400-ton station with triple brick walls by dolly. The hyperlink below offers a time lapse video of the move.
