The National Capital Commission (NCC) maintains waypoint signs throughout the Greenbelt, a natural area which surrounds the city of Ottawa. The waypoints mark trail intersections. The signs include geographic co-ordinates and a map of other waypoints.

Before construction of Highway 416 in the 1990s, the main route of the Rideau Trail passed through this trail section. Because of that major construction project in the mid '90s, the Rideau Trail was relocated. Since October 2016, this section of trail is again under the care of the Rideau Trail Association as a secondary trail: the Bells Corners Blue Loop (8 km in length). Look for the trail flashes, a blue isosceles triangle.
