According to Findagrave (see Website), she'd had "brain fever" as a child, and never married. At age 54, she was burned in a fireplace and died of her injuries. She is buried next to her parents, who were Citizens of the Republic of Texas, and her white marble headstone has an open Bible at the top. The headstone has been broken and repaired, and its inscription is:

Emily E.

A burn,

Apr. 10, 1887,

Aged
