The Presentation Stone for Calvary Episcopal Church was laid September 25, 1879 with the first services conducted a year later September 12, 1880. The church was consecrated July 2, 1881. The church building was through the efforts of John Patti Mari Van Nortwick, who took it upon themselves to build a new church replacing one which had been destroyed in a wind storm a quarter of a century earlier. The building was designed a architect George Collins and local builder Daniel Collins did the construction.
