James McLaren & Son was established in 1893 and is one of two bakeries in the town of Forfar, both of them specialising in the Forfar Bridie, a half circle of shortcrust pastry containing steak mince and seasoning. McLaren's is situated in Market Street in the north of the town and apart from the bridie also has a wide range of products.
