Lone Grove was established in 1885, with its first post office opened February 4, 1885. The area, located within the Chickasaw Nation, had previously been known as Price's Store, for a general mercantile business operated here. Located seven miles west of Ardmore, Lone Grove is basically a bedroom community, with most residents working in Ardmore.

The post office is a one-story brick building with a gable roof. It faces north on Heritage Street, which parallels Highway 70 (Broadway). The post office counter is open Mon-Fri from 6:00-11:30; 12:30-4:30 and from 8:00-10:00 on Saturday. The lobby and post office boxes are available Mon-Sat 24/7.
