FR C'est sous la protection de la vierge qu'est placé le village de Beaudinard. La chapelle qui lui est dédiée est symboliquement placée au point culminant de la commune (710 m). Le 15 août, fête de Marie, la population venait jusqu'ici en procession pour implorer sa bénédiction. On gravissait lentement le chemin, sous la conduite du prêtre pour entendre une messe à la chapelle, avant de redescendre au village pour les festivités. Le nom de Notre Dame de la Garde exprime la confiance que les gens accordaient à la vierge.

Les nombreux oratoires de Provence, ces petits édifices dédiés à un saint, rappellent également ce besoin de protection. On les trouve fréquemment à l'entrée des villages, sur les chemins des lieux de cultes, comme ici, ou auprès des terres cultivées.
EN It is under the protection of the virgin that the village of Beaudinard is placed. The chapel dedicated to it is symbolically placed at the highest point of the town (710 m). On the 15th of August, Mary's feast, the people came here in procession to beg their blessing. We walked slowly up the path, under the guidance of the priest to hear a mass in the chapel, before going down to the village for the festivities. The name of Our Lady of the Guard expresses the trust people had in the Virgin.

The numerous oratories of Provence, these small buildings dedicated to a saint, also remind us of this need for protection. They are often found at the entrance of villages, on the paths of places of worship, as here, or with cultivated land.
