"The Prow" was created by CAMM Design of Birkenhead and can be found on North Quay in Douglas.
This sculpture is based on the cremonial prow of a Viking Ship and was formerly sited in Villiers Square in the town.
The sculpture is in Stainless Steel and features a number or Norse/Viking designs and respresentions with Norse or Viking connections.
Around the scroll at the head of the prowl are the words:
'MONA ISLE 2002'
Both isleofman.com and the BBC News website resported comments by Douglas development partnership manager Chris Pyecroft at the time the Sculpture was re-positioned:
He said: "The Prow acknowledges the island's Viking and Norse connections yet also depicts the present-day Isle of Man through maritime, heritage, motor sport and finance sector symbols incorporated into its surface detailing.
"Given the Prow's strong seafaring references its new landmark location down by the harbour is more appropriate, adds to the unique streetscape of the North Quay and endows the sculpture, a symbol of the island's maritime past, with the prominence it merits."
