Thomas Graham, 1st Baron of Lynedoch purchased the Lynedoch estate five miles north-west of Perth in 1787. W H Playfair, who designed Lynedoch House, also designed an ornate arched bridge in 1832 which carried a private road from Lynedoch House eastwards to Scone Palace, avoiding all public roads on the route. In this period, horses and carts would have been the mode of transport. The bridge crosses a minor road that leads north-eastwards from the village of Methven to the hamlet of Moneydie. Just beyond the River Almond at Dalcrue the road enters Dry Arch Wood and the bridge looms into view with high embankments on both sides.
The bridge is a massive moulded and console keyblocked semi-circular arch with channelled masonry, main cornice and deep blocking parapet.
Lynedoch House has long been demolished and the private route has left little trace on the landscape apart from this bridge which still stands and was A-listed on June 9th 1981.
