Elmwood Cemetery is located on Downs Avenue (County Road 410 East), southwest of town. This is a large cemetery with 10,693 burials at this date. The cemetery has paved roads bisecting the area in both directions, and at the center, has an additional circular drive (see aerial photo).
The area is well maintained, and the unique thing is its three foot high granite rock wall that runs along the north side facing Downs Avenue, and along its east side, separating it from a housing addition. This rock wall was constructed by the WPA in the 1930's and is hundreds of feet long.
